Kay Johnson, President
I began my adult working life on staff with an urban mission in Amsterdam. That experience continues hold great sway over who I am and how I work. I believe that all of life and work is about what we give versus what we get. Though I am not always successful, I try to live and work in a way that reflects that belief. After leaving Amsterdam, I eventually earned a degree in Literature from Eckerd College. For seven years, I loved my students and loved teaching.
In time, I had an opportunity to move into a marketing position with the much-tauted, award-winning Florida Virtual School. I wore several marketing hats there, including Marketing Manager for FLVS Global Services, an international provider of online learning products and services. I also provided speech writing management and services for their executive team.
Harriett Hritz of Hritz Designs provided design services for Florida Virtual School, and we soon discovered a vibrant synergy in working together. We wanted to offer that creative energy and expertise to a wider range of clients. We both bring specific skills to the table, and where skills are needed that are outside our realm of expertise, we often partner with a close group of carefully vetted professional affiliates.
I still think of myself as a teacher, though now my work is with clients and other marketing professionals. I learn from them all as we work together to create the language, visuals, and communication tools that best communicate their business offering.
I am especially skilled in—
- Listening
- Writing and editing
- Working and networking with other marketing and creative professionals
- Speech writing
- Professional presentation development, including PowerPoint or Keynote design
- Ghost writing, with special experience in writing for education, particularly online or emerging technologies, as well as education reform
- Patience
